Note:  Though all are invited to join us for our scheduled events and drives, our insurance mandates that you must be a member of the Litchfield Hills Driving Club to participate in club sponsored events. If not a member you will be able to join the club on the day and at the place where the drive is scheduled. Please bring a completed application and membership fee.

February 2012

17th - LHDC Meeting, LHDC meeting 7:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church, corner of North Street and Route 6, Plymouth, CT.  Bill Clark of Northeast Farrier Supply has had to cancel attending our Feb. 17th meeting. In place of his program we will hold a SWAP MEET. Check your tack room for tack, harness, equipment, etc that you do not need any longer. Bring along any horsey item to sell or swap, your choice. Riding, driving or horsekeeping stuff; even horsey home decor i. e. pictures & prints are welcome. Let's break up the winter doldrums! -Hostesses:  Ann Raynor & Wendy Murdock?

Saturday May 19, 10:00 AM Interactive Demo and LHDC Meeting - Located at Willow Brook Farms, 41 Geer Mountain Road, South Kent, CT.
Directions
Margaret Beeman, Natural Horsemanship teacher/trainer/consultant of Broken Wheel Ranch of Millerton, NY will demonstrate the CORRECT USE OF THE INSIDE REIN with a horse in long lines. Learning how to use the inside rein correctly and effectively will eliminate problems such as counter bending, high headedness, grabbing the bit and rushing, and loss of control with scary objects. This will be a "hands on" learning experience for those who wish to participate. Margaret will long line anyone who wishes to participate giving them a chance to experience what the horse feels. From there they will get a chance to long line each other giving them a chance to apply their knowledge and experience learning what correct use of the inside rein feels like and how it will help them become safer and more effective in their work with their horses. 10:00 AM - Noon  Hostesses Josephine Barker & Janice O’Sullivan

From Litchfield: Take Rt 202 West for 7.3 miles. Take a right onto Rt 341 West for 10 miles. Take a left onto South Rd. for 0.8 miles. Take a right onto Flat Rock Rd for 0.7 miles. Then a left onto Geer Mtn Rd for 1.5 miles. The driveway will be on your right.
From Cornwall Bridge: Take Rt 7 South for 9.0 miles. At the light in Kent take a left onto 341 East for 0.6 miles. Bear right onto South Kent Rd for 2.9 miles Turn left onto Camps Flat Rd for 0.6 miles. Take a left onto Geer Mtn Rd 0.3 miles. After you pass the 3rd home on your left, take a left up the driveway to the barn.
From the Danbury area: 84 E or W to Rt 7 North for 21.2 miles. At The Gaylordsville Deli take a right onto Riverview Rd and then an immediate left onto South Kent Rd. for 2.4 miles. Take a right onto Camps Flat Rd for 0.6 miles. Take a left onto Geer Mtn Rd for 0.3 miles. After you pass the 3rd home on your left, take a left up the driveway to the barn.
